Technical Guidelines
Email Parameters
Our SMTP server is smtp.koumbit.net. Some ISPs (Internet service providers, such as Sympatico in Quebec) do not allow access to SMTP servers located outside of their own network. If this is your case, please use SMTP port 587 in your email client. Of course, you can also use the SMTP server provided by your ISP (if any).
The POP server is pop.koumbit.net
The IMAP server is imap.koumbit.net
Please take note that all these services require that you use your full email address (for instance: membername@koumbit.org and not only membername) in order to authentify yourself.
All email services (SMTP, POP, IMAP) are compatible with the TLS encryption protocol. We suggest you activate it in your email client.
Sending and retrieving email via the Web (Webmail) is possible at https://koumbit.net/webmail
Shared Hosting
The AlternC control panel is accessible at https://bureau.koumbit.net
The MySQL database server is mysql.koumbit.net (and not localhost, which is the default value in many software scripts).
Our Domain Name Servers (DNS) are ns1.koumbit.net and ns2.koumbit.net
Do you need to buy a new domain name or already have one?
We recomment using the French registrar Gandi
for registering you domaine name. With this system we can take care of all configuring the technical details on your behalf if you associate our Gandi ID (LRK1-GANDI) to your domain.
Public key certificates
If you attempt to establish a secure connection to our servers, either through your Web browser (https://) or email client (configured in SSL mode), you may see popup dialog boxes asking you to accept our public key certificate. If you have trouble installing that certificate permanently (and keep seeing the popups every time), please proceed as described in this page.
